- As you listen, think about the audience that this book was written for. Use this guide to help you think about who the author's audience was. 

 

Grammar: 

- This week we are going to explore the difference between concrete and abstract nouns. Remember, a noun is a person, place, or thing. 

- Today, watch this video that explains the difference between the two types of nouns. 

- Click on each type of noun to read more about that type.

Social Studies:

- We ended our social studies class by studying European Explorers and their journeys to America. This week we're going to pick up where we left off. After the explorers "discovered" America, Europe began to send more people to move to America. These people were called colonists and they lived in colonies. 

- Start off by watching this video about the 13 original colonies. 

- Then read this introduction to colonial life.

- This week we will read from our religion book online. The website can be accessed here and the username and password are below. (Both are case sensitive!)

- Here are this week's spelling words. These are for you to practice throughout the week and below are some different ways to practice your spelling words. There won't be a quiz at the end of the week, but practicing each week will help you stay on top of your spelling skills!

- Read this nonfiction passage about Isaac Newton. Isaac Newton is a famous scientist, just like Albert Einstein. After reading, answer the opinion question about the most fascinating idea that Newton discovered.

- Today you will read a collection of short biographies in the text Struggle to Success. All of these brilliant individuals overcame obstacles on their journey to success.As you read, see if you can make any connections between the people. 

 

Grammar:

- Click here to view today's activity. You will read twelve cards that each have a sentence on them. Each sentence has one abstract noun in it that you need to find. You can record your answers here

Math: 

- Area Project: Today you will apply your knowledge of area to help you design your dream home. Click here for the instructions and the planning paper. Feel free to be creative! You can add any rooms you like such as a movie theater, video game room, trampoline room, or indoor pool. It is up to you to design your dream home! 

- Click on each step to see the project broken down. 

     *Step 1: Outline outside walls

     *Step 2: Draw and label each room 

     *Step 3: Calculate area of each room and then total area

- Today you will answer some comprehension questions about Albert Einstein and his life by clicking here. It might be helpful to listen to the read-aloud again to help you out. 

- Extra: Here is a guided drawing of Albert if you would like to try it out. 

 

Grammar: 

- Nouns assessment: In each sentence, locate all of the nouns. Highlight all of the abstract nouns pink and all of the concrete nouns yellow. There is more than one noun in each sentence, so be careful that you are looking for every single noun.

- Today you should complete the following activity in Module 4:

     * Module 4 Multiplication and Area Unit Test

- Think about the different types of prayer that this chapter talked about. Choose one type and write your own prayer.
