Reading: Introduction to Poetry

- Begin by watching this video

- Poetic Elements: Read through the different examples of poetic elements and try to come up with some of your own examples. 

- Read the poem The Seasons

 

Writing: Metaphors

- A metaphor compares two things without using "like" or "as." 

- For example: Lucy is a night owl.  Lucy is compared to a night owl because she stays up late.

- This video has some additional examples. 

- Now try writing your own here!

 

Grammar: Adverbs and Verbs
- An adverb describes a verb. It answers questions like How? In what way? When? and Where?

- Example: I ran quickly.    Ran is the verb. Quickly is the adverb because it tells how I ran.

- Find the verb and adverb in sentences here

- Warm up with the Sprint. See how many problems you can solve in two minutes.
